Introduction to Decoding Disney

Although there are many compelling factors that spurred me on to sign up for this Decoding Disney Writing 101 class, I think I've whittled down my reason for taking this course to one primary motive. As simple as it may seem, I decided to take this course because I wanted to (and still want to) research and focus on the darker side of Disney as a corporation. Don't get me wrong, I love The Lion King or Wall-E just as much as any other sane and normal human being, but at the same time I've always really enjoyed learning about what happens behind the scenes, whether it is what goes into making a Big Mac or the dirty politics that occurs in policymaking (House of Cards >>>). So yeah, I guess my main reason for taking Decoding Disney is so that I can hopefully uncover some of Disney's less-obvious or possibly hidden agendas that aren't as flowery as some of the more obvious ones. Since this is my first legitimate writing assignment of college I'm not totally sure how to conclude this introductory post, so I'll leave you with a link to an article that illustrates what some Disney characters would look like if they were college students, my favorites being Tarzan and Hercules.
